A note from Maeve

Small steps, patient practice, and room to learn.

Hello, I’m Maeve. Welcome to The Slow Stitch, my little corner for people who love the feeling of yarn becoming something. Pull up a chair. There is room here for your first uneven square, a project you’ve put down twice, and the lovely satisfaction of trying again.

I want this to feel like a place you can return to: a stitch explained patiently, a useful note beside your project, and encouragement when a row needs another go. You don’t need to be quick, and you don’t need a cupboard full of expensive yarn.

One loop, then another. You can take your time.

Start with the free lessons, keep the tools close by, and make something at your own pace. My pattern collection is still taking shape; when the PDFs are ready, you’ll find them in the shop with the details you need to choose your next project.

Why "The Slow Stitch"?

Learning does not need to be a race. Clear instructions, readable pages, and space to practise make it easier to enjoy the process.

My aim is to connect useful stitch lessons with practical tools and clearly described PDF projects. Materials and techniques should suit the project, your preferences, and your budget.

What this site stands for

No Pop-Ups, Ever

You will never be interrupted by a giant modal screaming at you to spin a wheel for a coupon code. Reading a pattern should be peaceful.

Free Tools Stay Completely Free

The stitch counter, hook converter, and yarn calculators work in any web browser without an account, signup, or email address. Calculations run in your browser once the page is loaded; opening or reloading the site still requires a connection.

No Shame in Frogging

If you have to rip out three hours of work because you dropped a stitch, you haven't lost three hours. You gained three hours of practice, and your yarn is ready to try again.
